15 milestone

Today for my long run this week I ran 15 miles. It went great except for a couple of blisters. I ran it just under 3 hours, which was around an 11 min mile. I hope to get it down to a 10 min mile for the marathon so I can finish under 5 hours. I am still very pleased with how well I am doing with my training. It hasn't gone this well since my first marathon in 2001.

Marathon Training update

A couple of weeks ago I was in Utah and did a few runs on the Provo Trail. I love running there. I did a ten mile run and had the best run I have had in along time. I ran out to Utah Lake and around there a bit and back. When I got to the end there were some sprinklers. I couldn't resist. I went a took a shower (fully clothed). It felt soooooooooooooo good.
A few other good runs lately was my five miler last week that I worked on speed. I would run my normal pace at about 10 min mile. And I would speed up my pace for about three telephone post lengths. It was a great work out. I did 5 miles in 50 min, not bad. And then last fri on the fourth of July I went trail running at Targhee. I did a five mile loop. I had to walk several times. My goal is to run it with out walking. What a pretty run, with fields of yellow and purple flowers. Hopefully I can get some pics of it soon.

Teton Dam 26.2 mile relay race

Last Saturday I ran in the Teton Dam 26.2 mile relay race in Rexburg. Here are my team mates. It was a lucky day to begin with. We got assigned number 11 at our team number. 11 is my favorite number. This in now the third race bib I have with the number 11. It was a really fun race and I definatly would do another relay race. It was just fun. Even though we were not running together at the same time, we were still a team. Not sure yet what the results are yet of the race, but we all did better than we thought we were each expecting. I ran about a 10 minuet mile, running 4 1/2 miles in about 40 minuets.

As I was ending my run, I went to pass of the braclet to the next runner. I slapped it on her wrist (the kind that curl around your wrist). I guess the runners little girl thought I slapped her mommy. And she started to cry. About a 1/2 hour later the little girl asked me "why did you slap my mommy?"

I also entered the Logan Top of Utah Marathon. It is on Sept 20,2008. This relay race got me really excited for the marathon. I have been training for about 2 months now. At first I signed up for the St. George Marathon. I signed up with a team of 4. They let 7,000 runners in the race. Over 10,000 signed up for it this year. It almost made me cry because I love the St. George Marathon. But Logan is a good one also.
